David Ross Faulkner, 84, of Greensburg, passed away on Tuesday, August 19, 2025. Born September 29, 1940, in Westport, Indiana, David was the first child of Charles Ross and Gene Stratton (Porter) Faulkner. He was born at the home of his grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. E.A. Porter, and delivered by his grandfather, Dr. Porter. A 1958 graduate of Sandcreek High School, David studied at Indiana University before graduating from Franklin College in 1963 with a degree in Biology. He served as Greensburg's city engineer, taught junior high math, and later built a long career with Indiana Gas (now CenterPoint Energy), where he earned recognition as a "Chartered Industrial Gas Consultant" (CIGC). David enjoyed gardening, canning tomato juice, and fishing trips to Nestor Falls, Ontario. He loved cycling with his nephew, Josh Graue, and collecting fine antiques. A lifelong Indiana University basketball fan, he also cherished attending the Indianapolis 500, an annual event begun with his father. He was an avid reader with an extraordinary memory and became the family historian, keeping generations of stories alive. Among his favorite traditions was enjoying his grandmother Porter's pumpkin pie-faithfully baked for him by his sister, Mary Ann. He is survived by his sisters Nancy Gilliland, Cynthia (Stephen) Goddard, and Rebecca (Bob) Barker. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Mary Ann (Terry) Graue; and his brother, Charles 'Ned" Faulkner. He was a beloved uncle, great-uncle, and great-great-uncle, deeply devoted to his many nieces and nephews. David took great pride in their lives and accomplishments, and his interest and encouragement were constants in their journeys. A memorial service will be held, with arrangements to follow. Bass & Gasper Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
