Chesley A. "Bud" Cunningham, 92, of Westport, passed away at 9:00 A.M. on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at his residence. He was born on December 7, 1932, in Anderson, the son of Chesley Addison and Viva Dee (Roberson) Cunningham. He moved to Westport in 1942 and graduated from Sandcreek High School in 1951. He retired in 1985 from Cummins Engine Company after 35 years of service. Bud was a member of the Westport Baptist Church where he had served as a Deacon for several years and had been a Sunday School Teacher for 27 years. He is a 70 year member of the Odd Fellows Lodge #681 in Westport and past member of Westport Kiwanis Club. He enjoyed being a coach for baseball, basketball and girls' softball and was Scout Master for the Westport Troop for 27 years. He was a veteran having served with the U.S. Airforce and was stationed in Germany. He married Marilyn L. Owens on June 27, 1958, in Westport. She survives along with his sons, Gary (Joane) Cunningham of Greensburg and Greg (Tina) Cunningham of Westport; his sisters, Coreta Cunningham Porter of Columbus and Sandra (Steven) Billieu of Westport: his brother, William W. "Bill" (Linda) Cunningham of Westport; his sister-in-law, Linda Cunningham of Westport; 4 grandchildren, Nicole (Zach) Linville of Versailles, Allison (Luke) Waitt of Lebanon, Kevin (Samantha) Cunningham of Westport, Lauren (Nick) Marlin of Hope and 6 great grandchildren, Zoey and Chase Linville, Jake, Levi and Emma Cunningham and Marley Waitt and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Larry Cunningham. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, July 7, 2025 at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home with Rev. David Scaggs and Pastor Gary Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at the Westport Cemetery with military graveside service. A time of visitation will be held on Sunday, July 6 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Westport Baptist Church or Westport Volunteer Fire Department through the funeral home.
