Roy Nolan Brindley, 81, of Westport, passed away at 11:05 p.m. on Monday, May 22, 2023, at Franciscan Health Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born on February 26, 1942, in Carthage, the son of Jesse & Anna (Hammond) Brindley. He was raised in Vevay and has been a Westport resident since 1975. He graduated from Vevay High School in 1960. He retired in 2007 from Heritage Transportation after 20 plus years of service. Roy was a member of the Westport Baptist Church, Westport American Legion, and the NRA. He enjoyed playing softball, I.U. basketball, Bobby Knight, NASCAR, Dale Earnhardt, and he had owned his own racecar. He was a veteran having served with the U.S. Airforce. Roy married Brenda Joyce McConnell on May 21, 1969, in Greensburg, and she survives. Other survivors include his sons, Jeffrey Lee Brindley of Rising Sun and Daniel Petro (Mark Ohlinger) of Reading, Pennsylvania; his daughters, Elizabeth (Jim) Menkedick of Westport, Tricia (Michael) Johnston of Greensburg, Cassie Brindley (Dustin Magura) of Greenfield, and Stephanie Brindley of Westport; his sister, Dorothy Mallory of Dillsboro; his brother, Roger (Barbara) Brindley of Hanover; his 13 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren; several nieces, and nephews; countless friends and 5 exchange students. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Charon R. Craft; his son, Robert Brindley; sisters, Leona Brindley & Pearl Oyler; brothers, Jesse Brindley, Jr. and Coleman Brindley, Sr.; grandson, Timmy Brindley. The funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, May 27, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with Pastor Gary Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at the Westport Cemetery with military graveside rites. A time of visitation will be held on Friday, May 26, 2023, from 5:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Franciscan Heart Center or the St. Jude Children's Hospital through the funeral home.
