Kayla Christian McGovern, 29, of Milan, passed away on Monday, February 14, 2022 in Harrison, Ohio. She was born on September 17, 1992 in Batesville, Indiana the daughter of Marc McGovern and Angeline (Ryker) Tichenor. She was raised in Ripley County. Kayla enjoyed music, fashion, shopping, and especially spending time with her family. Her son, Jax, meant the world to her. She is survived by her mother and stepfather, Angeline and Gary Tichenor of Shelbyville, Indiana; son, Jax Joseph Malatesta of Rising Sun, Indiana; brothers, Michael Short of Florence, Kentucky and Jon Spurlock of Shelbyville, Indiana; grandparents, Diana and John Wooden of Grove, Oklahoma, Linda and Charles McGovern of Batesville, Indiana, Floyd Ryker of Milan, Indiana and Fay Tichenor of Greensburg, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her father. Per her wishes she will be cremated and burial will follow at a later date at the Westport Cemetery. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at the Hope Baptist Church (15593 US 50 in Dillsboro, Indiana) with Pastor Tom Holt officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 Noon until time of service at 1:00 p.m. The Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport has been entrusted with handling the funeral arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to through the funeral home to help with funeral expenses.
