Shirley L. Knight, 85, of Seymour passed away at 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at her residence. She was born on February 25, 1937, in Madison, the daughter of Delmar and Delphia "Dottie" (Jackson) Johnson. She lived in Indiana and in many other states. She was a member of the Freetown First Baptist Church. Shirley enjoyed her dog Miss Katy, along with sewing, shopping, making pies, spending time with her family, singing, Praising the Lord and telling others about Him. She married George W. Knight on December 28, 1962, in Greensburg and he preceded her in death on October 10, 2021. Other survivors include her daughters, Nancy J. Rogalle of Nashville and Rijne (John) Cordes of Seymour; her sons, Robert (Jeannie) Rucker of Sparta, TN, Rijn (Celeste) Abrell of Melbourne, Australia, and George W. (Toni) Knight, Jr. of Rural Valley, PA; her sisters, Sharon Foster of Indianapolis, and Bettie (C.W.) Wedding of Brownsburg; 21 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, George W. Knight. The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport. Mr. George Knight, Jr. and Rev. Joe Caplinger will be officiating. A time of visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. to time of service at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Following her wishes, cremation will follow. Memorial contributions may be made to Freetown First Baptist Church through the funeral home.
