Rosalyn Marie "Rosie" Johnson, 85, of Westport, passed away at 5:50 a.m. on Thursday, November 24, 2022, at the Heritage House Nursing Home in Greensburg. She was born on January 17, 1937, in Westport, the daughter of Melvin and Ellen (Clark) Reidenbach. She graduated from Greensburg High School in 1955, from the Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in 1958 as a registered nurse and took extended nursing classes at IU and IUPUI. Rosie was a School nurse for the Decatur County Community Schools for 26 years. She also worked for the Memorial Clinic in Indianapolis and was an assistant instructor of Nursing for Children at Methodist Hospital at Indianapolis. She was a member of the 1st Christian Church at Columbus and an honorary retired member of PSI Iola XI - Zeta Nu Chapter. The Elks Club voted her most valuable student from her graduating class and was the Westport's Woman of the year in 1978. She married Jerry Lee Johnson in New Castle, Indiana on January 29, 1960. He preceded her in death on July 27, 1968. Survivors include her daughter, Anne (Alan) Jefferson of Round Rock, Texas; her sons, Mark Johnson of Indianapolis and Jay Johnson (Denise Terry) of Westport; her sister, Jean (Danny) Bausback of Greensburg and her five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Ellen Reidenbach; her husband, Jerry Lee Johnson; her father and mother-in-law, Russell and Velma Johnson; her grandson, James Johnson. A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 1, 2022, at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home. A private family burial will follow at the Union Presbyterian Cemetery with Rev. Dennis Bickers officiating. A time of visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Westport Baptist Church, the Decatur County Community Foundation Scholarship Fund or Our Hospice of South-Central Indiana.
