Donald Eugene "Don" Buzzard, 75, of Westport, passed away at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at his residence. He was born on May 27, 1945 in Columbus, the son of Charles H. and Sarah A. (Brady) Buzzard. He had lived a majority of his life in Bartholomew County and graduated from Columbus High School in 1964. He retired in 2000 from Cummins Engine Company after 34 years of service. He was a member of Alert United Methodist Church and was a founding member of Crossroads Community Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, spending winters at Davenport RV Park at Haynes City, Florida and traveling. He married Eleanor "Kay" Salmons on August 15, 1965 at the Burnsville Christian Church and she survives along with his sons, Paul (Sue) Buzzard of Taylorsville, David (Jacqueline) Buzzard of Burnsville and Michael (Jeanette) Buzzard of Grammer; his sister, Barbara (Mike) Joy of Columbus; his brother, Douglas (Sheila) Buzzard of Columbus; his five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter, Eva Patience Buzzard and great-grandson Noah Buzzard. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 16, 2020 at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home with Rev. Connie Barr officiating. Burial will follow at the Westport Cemetery. We ask visitors to follow social distancing guidelines once inside the funeral home and masks are required. A time of visitation will be held on Sunday, November 15, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Alert United Methodist Church or to the American Heart Association.
