Nell Ann Pfeifer, 77, of Butlerville, passed away at 5:52 a.m. on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at her residence. She was born on August 4, 1943 in North Vernon, the daughter of Ernest & Alice (Miller) Downs. She has been a resident of Jennings County all of her life. She graduated from North Vernon High School in 1961. She was a member of the Columbia Township Home Economics Club, a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Millhousen and a former member of St. Denis Catholic Church. She enjoyed reading, gardening and helping others. She married Bernard A. Pfeifer on January 8, 1966 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in North Vernon. He survives along with her daughter, Katherine (Michael) Malone of North Vernon; her son, Bernard (Lynne) Pfeifer of Greensburg; her brother, John Downs of Dayton, Ohio; her grandchildren, Chealsy (Casey) Parr, Ryan (Miranda) Malone, Erika Malone, Rebecca Pfeifer; her great grandchildren, Gracie Taylor and William Parr. She was preceded in death by her parents. A Funeral Mass will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 11, 2021 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Millhousen with Father Jerry Byrd officiating. Burial will follow at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held on Sunday, January 10, 2021 from 3:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the Bass and Gasper Funeral Home in Westport. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana or American Cancer Research through the funeral home.
