Katherine Ann Kathy Welsh, 69, of Haines City, Florida passed away at 12:25 a.m. on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at Good Shepherd Hospice Facility in Auburndale, Florida. She was born on May 15, 1950 in Greensburg, Indiana the daughter of Clyde L. Hall & Alma Katherine (Switzer) Jones. She was raised most of her life by her grandmother, Minnie "Katie" Switzer. Kathy was a 1968 graduate of Sandcreek High School. She had been a Florida resident since 2017. Kathy enjoyed crocheting, gardening and flowers. She married her high school sweetheart, Edward Nugent at Mt. Aerie Baptist Church in 1969 and they had three children. They divorced in 1991. She then married Raymond E. Welsh, Jr. on June 10, 2000 in Russell County, Kentucky. He preceded her in death on October 20, 2018. Survivors include her daughters, Darlene (Jerome "Jay") Wright of Westport, Rebecca (Christopher) Hollin of Kentucky; son, Mike (Amanda) Nugent of Westport; stepsons, Jason Welsh, Joey Welsh, Josh Welsh and Jeremy Welsh; sisters, Pamela Wilson of Louisville, Kentucky, Patricia McNealy of Columbus; brother, Robert Darby of Greensburg; 8 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; several step grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; grandson, Cheavy Nugent; great granddaughter, Melody Henthorne and step great grandson, Evan Wright. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with Pastor Tyler Leeds officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Aerie Cemetery. The family will receive visitors on Saturday, January 25, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to assist the family with funeral expenses.
