Carl E. Hammond, 79, of Clarksburg, passed away at 7:10 p.m. on Thursday, November 7, 2019 at Arbor Grove Village in Greensburg. He was born on June 21, 1940 in New Castle, the son of Kirby Kyle and Nellie Mae (Groce) Hammond. He was raised in the Westport and Zenas areas. He retired in 2016 from Steel Technology in Greensburg. He had also worked for Bon Aluminum and K. S. Bearings in Greensburg. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, golfing and bowling for 22 years. He married Ednamae Hacker on July 3, 1964 in Greensburg and she survives. Other survivors include his daughter, Sara Nash of Greensburg; his sons, Bruce (Regina) McCord, Jr. of Greenwood, Rick (Ann) Hammond and Tony (Marcy) Hammond both of Greensburg, Robert (Betsy) Hammond of Clarksburg, and Carlos Hammond of Clarksburg; his sisters, Ruth Linger of Greensburg, Mary (Mike) Wright of Seymour, Bonnie (James) Smith of Westport, Pam (Dean) Owens of Sardinia; his brother, William (Virginia) Hammond of North Vernon; 18 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Norvel Ed Jones; sisters, Carol Sue Smith, Bernice Davis, Deloris and Dorothy Hammond; brother, Donald Hammond. Funeral services will held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 11, 2019 at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with Pastor Mike Bartlett officiating. Burial will follow at the Westport Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 2 hours prior to the funeral service on Monday. Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Alzheimer's Association.
