Donald Chester Dixon, 79 of Sardinia passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2020 at 12:10 p.m. at his residence. He was born February 10, 1941 in Jennings County, the son of Chester & Gail (Wilkinson) Dixon. Don was born and raised in Jennings County and has been a Sardinia resident since 1979. He graduated from Vernon High School in 1958 and was a member of the Westport American Legion Post # 134. Don was a farmer, truck driver and drove a school bus for Decatur County Community Schools. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He married Bonnie Tomlinson at Bear Creek Church on July 5, 1980 and she survives. Other survivors include his daughters, Michelle Dickson, Victoria (Mark Shreve) Dixon and Rebekah Dixon all of Westport; sons, Michael (Myriam) Dixon of Florence, Kentucky and Joseph Dixon of Westport; a sister, Carolyn (Larry) Kirby of North Vernon and 6 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Jane Alice Dixon. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with Rev. Kendall Wildey officiating. Burial will follow at the Westport Cemetery. The family will receive visitors on Monday, July 20, 2020 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
