Darrel Lee Swartz, 65, of Grammer, passed away at 1:09 p.m. on Friday, June 26, 2020 at his residence. He was born on November 19, 1954 in Decatur County the son of Murrel Robert “Bob” and Eleanor Vivian (Lee) Swartz, Darrel was raised and lived all of his life in Grammer. He graduated from Columbus North in 1973. Darrel had retired from NTN after 7 years of service. He had also worked for Gecom and NAC. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, music and collecting knives. He married Nancy Tempest in Grammer on May 9, 1972 and she survives. Other survivors include his daughters, Sunset Rene’ (Donnie) Whicker of Nashville, IN and Heather Lee Swartz of Sparta, TN; his sister, Deanna Kay (Robert) Reed of Greenfield, IN; his three grandchildren, Anna Modlin, Keonna Martin & Odra Martin and two great grandchildren, Mila Modlin and Stormi Modlin. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Robert Douglas Swartz and his nephew, Darin Printz. The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with Eric Brown & Jeff Thayer officiating. Burial will follow at Bear Creek Cemetery South of Alert. The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
