Ardith Kay Carpenter, 72, of Greensburg, passed away at 8:05 a.m. on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at her residence. She was born September 29, 1947 in Detroit, Michigan the daughter of Joseph & Florance (Ort) DePelsMaeker. She was born and raised in Michigan, had resided in Jennings County and has been a Decatur County resident for the past 40 years. She had graduated from Yale High School in Michigan in 1965. She had retired from the Mucatatuck Development Center after 32 years of service. She also had worked for Rescue 20 for 10 years, Print Pack in Greensburg for 10 years and Decatur County Memorial Hospital retiring in 2019. She enjoyed sewing, fishing, many crafts and her grandchildren. She married James E. Carpenter in Columbus, Ohio on August 13, 1982. He survives along with her daughters, Lisa K. Beam of Greensburg, Amy Carpenter of Vancouver, Washington and Andrea (Rusty Stuvall) Carpenter of Columbus, Indiana; her sons, Bradley J. (Maikie) Beam of Noblesville, Steven J. (Melanie) Beam of Columbia, South Carolina and Shannon D. (Chris) Beam of Greensburg; her sisters, Penny Dove of Georgia and Tiena Springer of Gaylord, Michigan; her brother, Richard DePelsMaeker of Texas; her 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Victor, Myron, Joey and Leonard DePelsMaeker; her sisters, Leal Bower and Margaret Bradley; her great-granddaughter, Lilith Baughman. Graveside services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2020 at the Mapleton Cemetery with Pastor Paul May officiating. The Bass & Gasper Funeral Home has been entrusted with handling the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the American Cancer Society.
