Jerald Wayne Chase, 79, of Westport, passed away at 9:17 p.m. on Monday, June 22, 2020 at his residence. He was born on March 9, 1941 in Rising Sun, Indiana the son of Paul Edwin and Kathleen Jeanette (Bladon) Chase. He was born and raised in Rising Sun and graduated from Vevay High School in 1959. He has been a Decatur County resident since 1965. He worked as a machine operator for 29 years for Delta Faucet and was a member of the Methodist Church. He coached softball for many years and enjoyed sports, playing cards, corn hole and playing horse shoes. He married Loretta Lee Woodruff in Rising Sun on June 3, 1961. She preceded him in death on April 5, 2018. Survivors include his daughters, Tammy Chase of Fordsville, Kentucky, Kimberly (Troy) Knapp of Sardinia, Ella (Jason) Hoke of Hope; his sons, Harley Chase of Letts, Dennis (Emma) Chase of Osgood, Mark (Brandi) Chase of Clive, Iowa; his sisters, Mary Weber of Aurora, Ella Chase of Rising Sun; his brothers, Raymond Chase of Rising Sun, Ernie Chase and Robert Chase both of Vevay and Donald Chase of Aurora; ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Claude Chase, Paul Chase and William Chase; his sisters, Laura Ann Chase and Karen Sue Chase. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 26, 2020 at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Rust officiating. Burial will follow at the Westport Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the American Cancer Society or to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
