Fred Monroe, 66, of Greensburg, passed away at 10:53 p.m. on February 12, 2020 at Silver Oaks Health Care Center in Columbus. He was born on July 14, 1953 in Hamilton, Ohio the son of Orville Henry William & Barbara Jean (Brown) Monroe. He was raised in Oxford, Ohio and had resided in Muncie, Indiana and had been a resident of Decatur County for the past 40 years. He attended Muncie South High School. He was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church where he was a trustee. He was a former member of the Faith Baptist church where he was a trustee and drove the church van for many years. He did a nursing home ministry at Heritage House, Lincoln Village and Odd Fellows. His favorite song was What A Day That Will Be, so his day has finally come and he is free...he got his wings. Fred married Donna Marie Osborn on January 26, 1980 at the Sandusky United Methodist Church and she survives. Other survivors include his son, Michael Lee Monroe (Kelcei Love) of Greensburg; daughters, Reneigh Lynn (Scott) Martin of Greenburg and Crystal Dawn (Anthony) Staggs of Kokomo; sisters, Diane (Gibb) Westerman of Muncie and Ginger (David) Burton of Williamstown; 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, February 17, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with Pastor Mark Shonk, Pastor Brad Douglas and Pastor Chuck Gerrian officiating. Burial will follow at the Westport Cemetery. The family will receive visitors on Sunday, February 16, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Greensburg. Memorial contributions may be made to assist the family with medical expenses through the funeral home.
