David Gatewood, 57, of Westport, passed away at 4:13 p.m. on Sunday, October 21, 2018 at Our Hospice Inpatient Facility in Columbus. He was born on May 22, 1961 in Greensburg, the son of Floyd B. and Kathleen (Asher) Gatewood. He attended South Decatur High School and was a member of Fredonia Methodist Church. David had been a Westport resident all of his life. He enjoyed fishing, boating, hunting and being outdoors. Survivors include his dog, Buck; mother, Kathleen Gatewood of Westport; sisters, Shirley (Paul) Wallace of Hope and Donna Hewitt of Westport; brother, Daniel (Colleen) Gatewood of Westport; 5 nieces and 5 nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd B. Gatewood and his sister, Debora J. Gatewood. Funeral services will be conducted at noon on Friday, October 26, 2018 at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with Rev. Kentlin Floyd officiating. Burial will follow at Westport Cemetery. The family will receive visitors on Friday, October 26, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
