Max Eugene Louden, 88, of Greensburg, passed away Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at Our Hospice Center in Columbus, Indiana. He was born on August 2, 1930 in Rush County, Indiana to Delbert Marion and Beulah Lurea (Kemper) Louden. Max graduated from Burney High School in 1948, and had attended several trade schools over the years. Max had several occupations during his lifetime including mechanic, farm machinery salesman, farmer and lab technician at James River where he retired from. He also served one term as a Decatur County Commissioner. He enlisted in the National Guards and served there for two years before enlisting in the United States Air Force. During his Air Force Enlistment he was stationed at Eielson Air Base near Fairbank, Alaska. While there he panned for gold on his days off. Max loved working with his hands. He designed and built a go-cart and a scale version of a Ford Model T for the grandkids to ride in. He also restored several antique tractors which he enjoyed showing at the Greensburg Power of the Past. He had worked several Indianapolis 500 races as a member of the security force. On November 11, 1954 at Sardinia Baptist Church he married the former Lois Louise Hutchinson. Their marriage of 66 years produced four children, three daughters and one son. Surviving are wife, Lois Louise Louden of Greensburg; daughters, Carolyn (Kenny) Blanton of Greensburg, Julia (Dan) Boilanger of Westport, Linda (Tim) Taylor of Hartsville; son, Dale (Melinda) Louden of Carmel; grandchildren, Heather (Andrew) Morrison, Jamie Wheeler, Amanda (Jeremy) Wade, Joyce Sebastian, Jared (Amanda) Boilanger, Tara (Grant) Hunt, Jordan Taylor and Lucas Louden; great grandchildren, Abby and Zoe Wheeler, Brooklyn and Landon Wade, Cole and Garrett Sebastian, Ali and Austin Boilanger, William, Evelyn and Olivia Hunt; brother, Larry (Betty) Louden; sister-in-law, Norma Louden; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Forest Louden, one grandchild and three great grandchildren. Services will be at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport on Friday, September 28, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. with Mr. Steve Fortner officiating. Burial will be at South Park Cemetery in Greensburg with military graveside rites. The family will receive visitors on Thursday, September 27, 2018 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Donations can be made through the funeral home to the Greensburg Meals on Wheels or in support of Honor Flights for Veterans.
