Raymond D. Pyles, 75, of Westport, passed away at 2:10 p.m. on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at his residence. He was born on September 10, 1943 in Decatur County, the son of Howard and Joeva (Hamilton) Pyles. Raymond was a lifelong resident of Westport and was self-employed carpenter. He was a member of the Westport Baptist Church and Westport American Legion Post #139. He served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He married Paula Fromer on September 19, 1970 at Westport Baptist Church and she survives. Other survivors include daughter, Madalyn (Jim) Brewer of Westport; sisters, Dorothy (Bob) Kirby of North Vernon, Catherine (Bob) Fisher of Cleveland, Texas and Sharon (Paul) Kirby of Indianapolis; granddaughter, Kayla (Eric) Hermesch of Greensburg; and one great-grandson, Evan Hermesch. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, John Pyles. Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with Rev. David Scaggs officiating. Burial will follow at Union Presbyterian Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held on Friday, September 21, 2018 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Indiana Room of the Greensburg Library through the funeral home.
