Frances Loucille Varnes, 67, of Hope, Indiana, passed away at 2:55 a.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at Arbor Grove Village in Greensburg. She was born on January 12, 1952 in Rushville, the daughter of Harvey K. & Charlotte L. (Grapevine) Crippen. She has resided in Decatur County most of her life and graduated from South Decatur in 1970 and from Ivy Tech Community College in 1989. She worked at Especially Kidz in Shelbyville for 20 years. She attended the Westport Baptist Church and the 1st Baptist Church of Chipley, Florida. Her hobbies included crocheting, quilting, sewing, cooking and baking. Survivors include her daughters, Amanda (Robert) Friend of Westport, Cynthia (Hugh) Laughlin of Waxhaw, North Carolina; her sons, Neal Varnes of Great Barrington, Massachusetts, Jeremy (Laura Ward) Varnes of Orlando, Florida; her sisters, Martha Barnes of Chipley, Florida, Nancy Schimel of Nashville, Tennessee, Kathy (Ron) Reynolds of Greensburg; her brother, Roger (Daisy) Manning of Lebanon, Missouri and grandchildren, Kody Friend and Katelyn Friend both of Westport and Colin Laughlin of Waxhaw, North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her parents. A memorial service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at the Westport Baptist Church with Pastor Paul May officiating.
