James Kevin Askren, 63, of Westport, passed away at 11:20 p.m. on Friday, June 28, 2019 at St. Francis Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born on October 9, 1955 in Seymour, the son of James F. & Edna L. (Coffey) Askren. He has been a resident of Westport for the past 10 years. Kevin had graduated from Jennings County High School in 1973. He enjoyed repairing small engines. He is survived by his daughter, Mistie D. Cain and granddaughter, Kaitlyn Cain both of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Kim Jeffrey Askren and an aunt, Alberta Coffey. Graveside services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 5, 2019 at the Westport Cemetery with Rev. Connie Barr officiating. The Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport was entrusted with handling the funeral arrangements.
