Betty M. Ponsler, 92, of Greensburg, passed away at 10:05 p.m. on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient facility. She was born on March 29, 1927 in Ripley County, the daughter of Rex H. and Jennie Mae (Mills) Cole. She moved to Westport in 1936 and graduated from Sand Creek High School in 1945. She moved into Crownpointe Senior Living Community in 2016. Betty was a member of the Westport Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years and a member of the Friendship Mission Circle. She married Paul H. Woods in Jennings County, on October 27, 1951. He preceded her in death on June 26, 1960. She married Lyman M. Ponsler in Westport on August 15, 1976. He preceded her in death on June 18, 1999. She is survived by her sister, Phyllis (Louis)Rockey of Westport; nieces, Tammy (Mark) Adams of Greenwood, Terrie (Glenn) Bostic of Fort Myers, Florida, Annette (Wayne) Moore of Columbus; nephew, Darrell Cole of Columbus . She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Paul Woods and Lyman Ponsler; sister, Susanna Jane Cole; brother, John A. Cole; niece, Melissa Corya. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Friday July 5th, 2019 at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home at Westport with Rev. David A. Scaggs officiating. Burial will follow at the Westport Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held on Friday, July 5, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana or the Westport Baptist Church through the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home.
