Marjory Elizabeth Cooper, 101, of Westport, passed away at 3:43 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at her residence. She was born on March 12, 1918 in Rush County, the daughter of Otto Herman and Glenna M. (Carr) Bokelman. She was a graduate of New Salem High School and had been a Decatur County resident since 1950. She was a member of Waynesburg Christian Church, North Vernon Order of Eastern Star #183, Hi Nabor Home Extension and had been a past president of the Decatur County Home Extension. She enjoyed doing needle work, quilting, cooking, gardening, and singing. She married Fred Oris Cooper on April 21, 1940 in Merom, Indiana. He preceded her in death on December 25, 2017. Survivors include daughters, Anna Marie Shipley of Plainfield and Pamela Kay (Max) Taylor of Marion; sons, Michael F. (Marilyn) Cooper and Randal Kent (Pamela) Cooper both of Hartsville; 12 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, sisters, Lucille Robinson, Martha Drennen, Mary Friedersdorf, May Richter, Miriam Bokelman and brother, Robert Bokelman. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at Waynesburg Christian Church with Rev. David Burnett officiating. Burial will follow at Garland Brook Cemetery in Columbus. A time of visitation will be held on Monday, April 15, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport. Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Waynesburg Christian Church.
