Ruby Irene Hamer, 92, of Greensburg, passed away at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at the Keepsake Village of Columbus. She was born on January 7, 1927 in Metamora, the daughter of Ed and Edna (Sherwood) Foreman. She lived most of her life in Decatur County and graduated from Sandcreek High School in 1945. She retired in 1986 from BCA after 26 years of service. She was a member of the Union Baptist Church where she had served as Church Secretary, Sunday school teacher and committee-member for music. She also was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary at Greensburg. She married Floyd E. Hamer on November 24, 1945 in Greensburg, he preceded her in death on April 22, 2012. Survivors include her daughters, Angie (Barney) Taylor and Patty Coy both of Columbus; son, Kevin (Betsy) Hamer of Brownsburg; grandchildren, Rod Taylor of Phoenix, Arizona, Cynthia Stewart of Harrodsburg, Kentucky, Kristi (Chris) Herbert of Greenfield, Indiana, Chad (Kim) Taylor of Hope, Indiana, Nicole (Steve) Land and Greg (Charmin) Coy both of Columbus, Indiana, Jan Hamer, Maggie Hamer, Jessica Hamer & Mary Hamer all of Brownsburg, Indiana; thirteen great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Floyd E. Hamer; her sisters, Marianna Mozingo, Marjorie Huesman, Gertrude Davis, Ruth Lucas and her brother, Gilbert Foreman. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Bell officiating. Burial will be at the Union Baptist Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. until the 1:00 p.m. service.
