Christopher A. Nickell, 30, of Columbus, passed away unexpectedly at 12:25 a.m. on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at his residence. He was born on June 30, 1988 in Columbus, the son of Brian and Tammy A. (Day) Nickell. He was a lifelong resident of Columbus and graduated from Columbus East High School in 2006. He was employed by Touchdown Machining in Columbus. He was described as selfless, humble and giving. He enjoyed playing guitar, writing music, surfing the internet and family gatherings. He also enjoyed his dog, Apollo and his cat, Chicken. Survivors are his mother, Tammy Nickell; father, Brian Nickell; brother, Shawn Nickell all of Columbus; his sisters, Cherokee Hunt of North Vernon and Sarah Nickell of Columbus; grandfather, Clayton Nickell of Versailles. He was preceded in death by grandparents; Sheila Nickell, Stephen and Iva Day. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with Rev. Donnie Asbury officiating. Burial will be at the Westport Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 2 hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to assist with funeral expenses.
